Tropical cyclone Danas, formerly named Bising, and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will continue to bring rain across the country, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said rains with gusty winds will persist over Batanes due to Danas.

These moderate to heavy rains may cause flooding or flash floods. The strong winds also pose a minimal to minor threat to lives and properties.

Meanwhile, the trough of Danas will affect the weather conditions over the Babuyan Islands.

At 3 p.m., Damas was located 335 kilometers west northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, packing a maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 160 km/h, and moving northeastward at 15 km/h.

PAGASA earlier said Danas is expected to re-enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday evening or early Monday morning.

Meanwhile, occasional rains over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan are expected due to the Habagat.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will be observed over Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon due to the Habagat.

These moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flooding or flash floods.

The rest of the country will also see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat.

Residents of affected areas were warned of possible flooding or flash floods due to severe thunderstorms.

State meteorologists also said the extreme Northern Luzon will experience strong wind conditions and rough coastal water conditions.

Winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the western section of Central Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon.

The rest of the country will see light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:32 a.m. on Monday. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
