Marcos on allies, family breaking the law: 'May pananagutan ka'

On the weekend before Eleksyon 2025, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. took to social media with senatorial candidate Benhur Abalos to answer some questions.

Among the questions he read in his vlog on his Facebook page was, "paano mo haharapin ang mga miyembro ng coalition o pamilya na humahadlang sa reporma o lumalabag sa batas?"

(How do you deal with coalition or family members who obstruct reform or violate the law?)

"Yung mga lumalabag sa batas, ano gagawin natin? Lumalabag ka sa batas eh, kailangan may pananagutan ka... Kung manlaban ka sa batas, usually meron biktima yan. Kailangan may pananagutan ka," Marcos said.

(Those who violate the law, what should we do? You violate the law, you must be held accountable... If you break the law, there is usually a victim. You must be held accountable.)

"Titiyakin namin na may katarungan ang lipunan," he added.

(We will ensure that society has justice.)

Marcos, however, said there are those who are willing to discuss certain policies, and he is willing to talk with them.

"Meron yung talagang paniwala na hindi tama ang polisiya. 'Yun dapat ang kausapin... Kausapin natin sila, baka may mas magandang polisiya na puwedeng gawin," explained Marcos.

(There are those who truly believe that the policy is not right. We should talk to them. Let's talk to them, maybe there is a better policy that can be implemented," he said.)

But he also said that there are those who are not willing to talk.

"Yung isa naman, lahat na lang ng gawin mo, kinakalaban ka lang dahil sa politika. Basta kontra sila sa lahat ng gawin mo, mali. Iyon, wala ka ng magagawa dun," said Marcos.

(The other one, everything you do, they just fight you because of politics. They are against everything you do. There's nothing you can do about that.)

Marcos was also asked about his priorities in terms of improving the country's situation.

Marcos, however, still vouched for members of the Administration slate as he was asked what are their "super powers."

“Hindi po madali ang pinasukan nila. Lahat po sila ay nagsakripisyo para makapagserbisyo lang sa tao… ‘Yan ang superpower ng Alyansa,” he said.
